Early Visual Poems

Junio 2023

These early visual poems were created by Gubbins in Europe between 2001 and 2003. Except for one of them, none had been previously exhibited in an art gallery and they had only been part of his first two books: “Álbum”, composed between August and December 2003 and published by Ediciones Tácitas in Santiago in 2005 with an epilogue by Clemente Padín; and “London Poems. 2001-2003”, composed in those years and published by the Writers Forum Press in London in 2010.

All the works presented here are versions made especially for this exhibition, except for twelve slides with photographs of early paper versions of poems from the book “London Poems. 2001-2003”, which are exhibited in the main room and with which the artist projected his poems in the recitals he gave in those years.
